How to get to Matera

By car: from the Tyrrhenian coast – leave the A3 Salerno-Reggio Calabria exit Sicignano degli Alburni, following signs for Potenza; then proceed along the SS 407 Basentana up to Ferrandina Scalo and from there the SS 7 Appia, leading to Matera.
From the Adriatic coast – exit at Bari Nord A14 Bologna-Taranto and take the SS 96 in the direction of Altamura. Here follow the signs to Matera along the SS 99.
From Calabria – take the SS 106 Ionica until Metaponto and then follow the signs to Matera.

By plane: Bari Palese airport.

By train: direct connection from Rome, Naples or Salerno with FrecciaLink or ItaloBus (train and bus). A short distance from Matera, there are the train stations of Bari (70 km) and Ferrandina (30 Km).
